How to Play

Play River Solitaire online for free. River Solitaire is a single-deck timed version of Solitaire where the play mechanics are similar to that of Klondike Solitaire, except all the cards are dealt directly to the tableau across 13 columns. Build down while alternating suit color on the tableau & build 4 suited foundations in ascending order starting with the Aces. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button right of the center of the welcome screen to start the game.
Under the Play button are buttons for how to play Help, High Scores, and More Games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for game settings, social media sharing & reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select a card or a valid run of cards & drag your mouse to where you would like to move the card or cards.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select a card and drag your finger across the screen to where you would like to play the card.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The foundations are on the right side of the tableau.
      - The game controls are in the right rail of the game.
        At the top there is a full screen mode button.
        Next are indicators for what level you are on, your cumulative game score, and how much time you have remaining.
        At the bottom there are 5 buttons to turn autoplay on or off, control game sound, control game music, undo moves, and pause the game.
        You can undo up to 3 moves per level.
        Game Play
        Deal
        This game uses a standard deck of cards.
        All 52 cards are dealt directly to the tableau across 13 stacks, with each stack having 4 cards.
        Playing
        Build down on the tableau while alternating suit colors.
        Empty spaces on the tableau can be filled in by Kings or valid runs of cards which start with a King.
        Build the 4 suited foundations in ascending order starting with the Aces.
        The autoplay function is rather aggressive with laying cards to the foundation.
        This helps you finish the game quickly, which maximizes your score.
        In some cases the autoplay can play cards you still need to use to move other cards. When this happens you can undo the move and then either move another card atop the card the autoplay moved, or turn autoplay off temporarily until you can make such a move.
        Levels
        This game has 3 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        You can’t go back and replay previously beat levels without starting the game over.
        Levels are the exact same other than the time limit given to beat each.
        The first level gives you 5 minutes.
        The second level gives you 4:40.
        The third level gives you 4:20.
        Scoring
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Each card you lay to the foundation is worth 20 points, for a maximum card-based score of 1,040 on each level.
        Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 150 points.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Klondike Solitaire card games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
