How to Play

Play Kings and Knights online for free. Kings and Knights is a medieval fantasy themed Mahjong Solitaire game. Match pairs of identical stones to remove them from the stack. Clear the entire stack before the level timer runs out and play through 75 fun boards across the realm. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
Select the gear button to open the following controls:
- Use the speaker and music buttons to turn the game’s sound on and off.
- Use Reset to clear your game progress.
- Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

      - Controls and indicators
        The game’s controls and indicators are located at the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Level number
        Level score
        Level timer
        Pause button
        Shuffle button
        Hint button
        Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
        Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        The level selection screen has the following controls:
        The game’s levels are arranged as a winding path across the kingdom. Level icons appear on the path like stepping stones.
        Your total score is shown on the center right.
        The bottom row contains the following controls:
        Menu button: Takes you back to the welcome screen
        Play button: Starts the game

        Level selection
        To start a level, select a level, then select the play button.
        A selected level icon will glow, whereas an unselected level will be dim.
        The play button automatically plays any level that’s been selected.
        You can also left click or tap on a level icon twice.
        Levels are unlocked sequentially:
        Only the first level is playable at the start of the game.
        Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
        Select Next Level on the win screen to return you to the level selection screen.
        There are 75 levels in this game.
        You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
        Basic rules
        Select 2 identical stones to remove them from the stack.
        You can only pair free stones.
        Free stones have no stone above them and at least one side (left or right) without an adjacent stone.
        The game helpfully highlights the free stones with a lighter background color & stones which are not open have a darker grayish background color.
        Clear the entire stack before the level’s timer expires.
        You start with 1 minute and 51 seconds on the clock on the first level.
        Later levels have a longer time limit and more stones.
        You fail the level if you don’t clear all the stones in time.
        You can try again. The game offers unlimited continues.
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard, though erases your gameplay data.
        Scoring
        You have 2 scores in this game:
        Your level score represents your best score in the level.
        Your total score is the sum of all your level scores.
        Level scores:
        Every pair of tiles you clear adds 200 points to your total score.
        After finishing, you also receive 30 bonus points for every second remaining on the timer.
        Total score
        You can improve your total score by playing more levels or replaying earlier levels.
        Your total score is shown in the center right of the level selection screen.
        There are two ways to save your total score:
        Play through all 75 levels.
        End the playthrough after a game over.
        Assistance
        You get an unlimited number of hints and shuffles.
        Selecting the hint button will show you any valid pair of tiles.
        Shuffles rearrange the stones on the stack.
        This is useful if you want to make more obvious pairs.
        The game automatically shuffles when there are no more valid pairs left.
        However, hints and manual shuffles cost points. Use them sparingly.
        Each hint costs 300 points.
        Each manual shuffle costs 500 points. Automatic shuffles are free.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games or Edo culture.
        The game has no adult themed content.
